GoGuardian is always improving their product. They have an open Doc for users to suggest new ideas.
New Features:
- Sessions can now be renamed.
- You can now delete sessions.
- You have the ability to stop collecting screenshots.
- You can download a report.
- Better navigation when looking photos.
Awhile back, Guardian offered clients an opportunity to test out new Anti-Theft features in their already pretty powerful suite of Chromebook Management tools. I went ahead and tried it out and it was pretty cool.
On that AntiTheft tab it gives you a nice, short video outlining these directions. It's super easy.
It provides you with:
- When the device is turned on, it will take a picture with the camera.
- It will take a picture every 15 minutes.
- It tells you the geolocation of the device.
- It will show you screenshots of the pages you're on.
- It will show you the keylogs (what you typed).
Problems?
- One of the problems I have with it is that it counts the Sessions and it can not identify what device it is. So, if I have 3 stolen devices and I put them all in the Stolen Devices OU and one device gets opened, I do not know which device that is. Also, if that device logs on again..I can't tell if that Session is the same session as the previous one or if it's another device.
- And as always, the person can simply wipe the device :) causing the policy to obviously not be enforced. However, a user would have to turn on the device normally, to start the wiping process.
Again, this tool is FREE until August. We're currently in the process of evaluating it. It seems like the front runner when it comes to Chromebook Management. Thoughts? One very good sign is that they seem to be pretty active in improving the suite of tools. They've added quite a bit in the few months we've been using it.
I would highly recommend taking a look and trying it our until August, it's for free!
