What's New in Google Apps? Webinar

Not a very exciting webinar but here are some of the key points.

Most importantly, when is the new Admin Console coming to the Education version of Gapps?

  • Business and Government 100% to new customers, almost 100% to existing customers.
  • For Google Apps for Education - Apparently there are "back end licensing constraints". The roll out has not happened yet. "There are some dependencies before it actually rolls out". It will be coming "very shortly".
I'm not sure what "back end licensing constraints" means...

Overview

  • New short URL for admins: admin.google.com
They went over the new Admin Console again (like last month).
  • Searching and managing users in the new Console is much better.
  • New control called "Company Profile" - restructured "Domain Settings".
  • You can search for key words within a settings page - finds as you type.
  •  Non core apps are listed in another area called "Other Google Services".
  • Market Place apps are also listed separately.

Misc Updates

  • Gmail: New category tabs.
  • Google Groups: new user interface is there, it's launched.
  • Google Forms refreshed - real time collaboration, spreadsheet and form separated, print forms in a format where it's easy for users to fill in.
  • Google Sites: easier for users to edit site layout, change font, colors.

Notes

Archived Webinars

Someone asked: "How long will Google Sites be a part of the Google Apps?" (because of Google+)
response: He hasn't heard about any of that changing.
