A new script for Chromebook admins via +Andrew Stillman

A cooleague (meant to say colleague but cooleague just sounded too cool to fix) shared a post with me the other day (+Sean Beaverson ) from +Andrew Stillman. Andrew announced a new script he created that will export Chromebook device information into a Google Spreadsheet and then allow you to edit the record and import back into the admin console. Cool, huh!?

Here's the entire post which was posted in the Apps Scripts for Education Google+ Community.

Please help beta test!  (you must be a super-admin on a domain with Chrome device management console...)

Announcing a new script for Chromebook administrators:  chromebookInventory, which allows you to use a Google Sheet to export and update your Chromebook inventory in the Google Apps Chrome Device Management Console.

Features:

- Export your entire inventory of Chrome devices into a Google Sheet, including all of the following metadata: etag, Org Unit Path, Serial Number, Platform Version, Device Id, Status, Last Enrollment Time, Firmware Version, Last Sync, OS Version, Boot Mode, Annotated Location', Notes, and Annotated User

- Make edits to "Annotated Location","Notes", and "Annotated User" and update your Chrome console directly from your spreadsheet.

Link to make a copy of this tool:

It's super easy, just click on the link above and it will make a copy of the sheet and script for you. then follow a few directions in the sheet. I successfully did an import and export within no time.

You can only edit and update the user, location and notes right now but I'm hoping that the MAC Address will be able to be updated soon too. Really, these features need to be in the admin console already. Google needs to provide their customers, who are paying $30/device for the management piece, with more functions.

+Andrew Stillman has done a ton of work with scripts. I highlight recommend checking out the following links.
