Did You Know? You can set the Wallpaper in Chromebook Management

This has been possible for at least a few weeks now but I figured I'd mention it. You can now set the wallpaper for users on Chromebooks.

How?

  1. Log into the Admin Console
  2. Go to Device Management
  3. Chrome
  4. User Settings
  5. It's under General, near the top

The funny thing is, is that we got a lot of requests from teachers on forcing the wallpaper or locking it when we did roll out last year...but we couldn't at the time. Now, it's not a big deal :) The kids were obsessed with it for a day or so and now they have it as they want and it's not distracting anymore. Now, we really don't want to force or lock the wallpaper (and we don't). That's a fun part for students!

I sort of wish that we could set the wallpaper based on device, instead of user. Ex: we have a cart of Chromebooks for training purposes we'd want to set the wallpaper to. Maybe? I dunno maybe not! We do have some training and generic accounts that it would be nice to set the wallpaper for though. Ex: today I made one of our schools (enrollment) accounts have a different background so when our techs log in, they know they are logged in with that account. I think that will be our main use for now.
