Sean Beaverson (@smbeaverson) told me about this extension and I believe he found out about it through Jay Atwood via Google+. We tried pre-installing it in our Chrome OS settings with the couple of Chromebooks we have and boom, bam, easy as that.
Left is what it looks like before installing the extension & to the right is after installing
Here are the instructions on how to add the extension for an individual:
1. Go to your Drive interface2. Click on the CREATE button
3. Click on Connect more apps
4. Search for "Templates"
5. Click the blue + CONNECT button by the "Drive Template Gallery" extension
6. Done
Do you have Chromebooks?
Here is how to pre-install this extension on all of your Chromebooks:
1. Log into your Admin Dashboard2. Click on Settings
3. Click on Chrome OS
4. Click on Applications
5. Highlight the Organization you wish to auto install this extension on (we did all users)
6. Click on Manage Pre-installed Applications (first section)
7. A window will pop up, click on Chrome Web Store
8. Search for "Templates"
9. Click on "Add" by "Drive Template Gallery"
10. It will move over to the right, click Save
11. Make sure you click Save again
Again, we first discovered this through another post on Google+ by Jay Atwood. Very cool! Now, I wish I could install this extension on all of our domain user's Chrome browsers, not just on the Chromebook.
