Another set of wishes..
Device (settings)
- The ability to set the WiFi before a device is enrolled
I thought about this is the past but I realized the device isn't enrolled yet so how can it follow the policies in our management system? But then I saw that devices enforce device settings even before it's enrolled. Since the device is in our console somehow the system knows that serial number is ours..so why not be able to set up a WiFi with a password before the device is enrolled?
This would be tremendously helpful because the WiFi network we want students to be on has a password, which they
don't aren't supposed to know. If it was already selected and pre-filled we could very easily give them the box and have them open it with no set up at all.
- Remove "log in as guest" when you get enrollment log in page
Even if you have "don't allow guest access" set in your device settings a link will still be displayed when you enroll your device. If a user clicks on "browse as guest" it screws up the enrollment process. This just happened to day to us. It doesn't go through the proper enrollment process and I had to wipe the machine to enroll it correctly. Removing that link will remove the risk of users clicking that link.
- Ability to change the default Wallpaper for all users (or per org) -
more permissions and settings regarding the Wallpaper (lock, can
change/can't change)
I've already
covered talked about wishing we could "lock" the wallpaper but someone asked in the Chromebook EDU community if we can mass change it, which would be cool.
Device (management)
- The ability to search by "Chrome version"
- Ability to search for details (only can search by SN right now)
Search by Chrome version would help me right now--seeing which users have done the updates after enrolling. Also, with the Chrome Sync/Google Talk bug I could see which devices are running the version that the bug is on. Searching for other details in the device record would also be helpful.
- The ability to push out Chrome updates from the Dashboard
I'm noticing the version of Chrome on the newly enrolled devices are on 23, when the latest is 26 (or at least 25). They must not have gone through the updates. It would be nice to do the updates for users.
- Ability to wipe a machine from the Dashboard
This would be helpful if the device was messed up when being enrolled.
- Information on when the device was first enrolled, unenrolled, user logs, etc.
This would be great, especially for first enrolling the devices and after it's been wiped, etc. Knowing the history of the device would be useful in troubleshooting and organization. If they add the "enrolled" "not enrolled" piece of data in the record it would be awesome to be able to search based on that query. As our users are enrolling the devices it's annoying not being able to tell which ones are enrolled and which aren't (besides going by "last sync").
- Ability to export device details in spreadsheet via "more actions" - so you can have a spreadsheet of all of the details.
It'd be nice to get a spreadsheet view of the devices.

I've also created a
Wish List page to better display all of the wishes together. I still need to categorize them and list them but it will be easier to review and search through the wishes.
